Be careful or else’ — Wike warns against picking a muslim senate president

Nyesom Wike, Rivers State former governor has kicked against the advocacy of a muslim Senate presidency.

During an interview with Channels Television, the former governor stated that nobody can deceive him that the naira redesign policy or the scarcity of fuel were policies not targeted at President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He revealed that a lot of booby traps were set for Tinubu not to emerge as president, both in his party and elsewhere.

He, however, stated that he hopes the Senate president does not come from a Muslim family because the president and vice president are already Muslims.

According to him, “Within that period of the election, you brought the issue of the naira redesign and the issue of there being no fuel, two things that have to affect the masses. You’ll know it was a booby trap set against Asiwaju not to emerge. Nobody can deceive me into thinking that that policy was not targeted at him, but like I said, God, in his infinite mercy, gives power.

“Man can set all kinds of traps; God can say, “Look, this is a man’s trap; jump and pass. And he jumped and passed. Now, you want to take a Senate president again from a Muslim. What are we talking about? Mr. President is a Muslim; the Vice President is a Muslim; the Chief Judge is a Muslim; and you want the Senate President to be Muslim.

“What will he tell anyone? You have to be careful. Only those who don’t want the unity of this country can push that type of proposal. If you want the unity of this country, for this country to be united, for this country to be indivisible, leave and let go.”
