“Your Wig Is for Sale, Your Suit Is for Sale, Even Judgment Is for Sale” — VDM Rubbishes Nigerian Judiciary

Social media activist VeryDarkMan has renewed his criticism of Nigeria’s legal profession, questioning the description of law as a “noble profession” and alleging that money can influence aspects of the country’s justice system.

VeryDarkMan made the remarks amid the controversy surrounding his recent attendance at the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) conference, where his invitation and presence generated reactions from members of the legal community and the public.

The activist had earlier responded to criticism surrounding his appearance at the NBA event, arguing that much of the controversy stemmed from the fact that someone like him had been invited to a gathering of lawyers.

In his latest statement shared on social media, VeryDarkMan took aim at the perception of the legal profession as noble, alleging that some elements within the system could be influenced by money.

“You call the profession a noble profession? When your wig is for sale. Your suit is for sale. Judgment is for sale,” he said.

His comments appeared to deepen his ongoing confrontation with members of the legal profession, as he has continued to use his social media platforms to question institutions and individuals he believes should be held accountable.

The remarks, however, attracted mixed reactions online.

While some social media users supported his decision to criticise the legal profession and raise questions about the justice system, others challenged him to provide evidence for his claims and questioned whether he would have made the same remarks while attending the NBA conference.

One user, @chukwukamadu52, wrote: “Why didn’t he say all these things in their presence when he was there. Na to set camera Dey blab!!”

Another user, @gaga_kaykay, challenged the activist to point to cases where he had helped people secure justice, asking: “Have you gotten any one justice? Mention people you have gotten justice for.”

Another commenter, @bugzymaxwell, simply reacted with laughing emojis.

The latest controversy adds to the growing debate over VeryDarkMan’s relationship with Nigeria’s legal community following his participation in the NBA conference.

While his critics have questioned his approach and the basis for some of his allegations, his supporters maintain that his willingness to challenge powerful institutions has helped draw public attention to issues they believe deserve scrutiny.

However, the allegations that money determines judicial outcomes remain claims made by the activist and were not independently established in his statement.
