Wike mocks Fubara, say Tinubu has restored legislature and judiciary independent in Rivers
In a recent press conference, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, expressed gratitude for President Bola Tinubu’s intervention, stating that it has successfully restored the independence of the executive, legislature, and judiciary in Rivers State.
Wike emphasized that the effective functioning of the three arms of government has ushered in a newfound era of peace and stability within the state.
Addressing journalists during the conference, he shed light on the political tussle he faced with Fubara.
“The Executive, Legislature, and the Judiciary are all functioning independently. All thanks to the President,” Wike remarked.
The political discord between Wike and Fubara escalated, resulting in the unfortunate burning of the state legislative chambers three months ago, allegedly orchestrated by Fubara’s loyalists.
Amidst the chaos, several commissioners and lawmakers aligned with Wike resigned from the state executive council and defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC). However, President Tinubu’s timely intervention played a crucial role in diffusing tensions and compelling the parties involved to sign a peace pact.
As part of this agreement, Fubara renominated and swore in the resigned commissioners, marking a significant step towards reconciliation and collaborative governance in Rivers State.
