Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has commended Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State for leaving the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to align with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), describing the move as a bold step in the interest of development.
Wike gave the commendation on Wednesday during the commissioning of the 15.13km Ikot Esu–Otomo–Azumini Road in Ika Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.

The former Rivers State governor said Governor Eno had demonstrated leadership by prioritizing the progress of his state over party politics, especially through his collaboration with the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio.
“Unity brings about development. Working together brings about development. Putting yourself together to be strong brings about development,” Wike stated.
He added that teaming up with the Senate President would attract more federal presence and developmental projects to Akwa Ibom State.

“One good thing you must commend the governor for is that he has decided, for the interest of Akwa Ibom State, to work together with the Senate President. I can assure you, with this partnership, you will see more presence and more development in the state,” Wike said.
The minister also praised Eno’s achievements, pointing to the newly commissioned Ikot Esu–Azumini Road as evidence of his commitment to service delivery. According to him, President Bola Tinubu’s administration has made funds available for states to embark on such projects without accumulating debts.
On his part, Governor Eno stressed the need for unity in driving development across the country, noting that progress transcends politics. He expressed appreciation to the Abia State Government for partnering on the road project, which cuts across both states.

“We are united to support the president, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for his second term because of all that he’s doing. We know where he took over from, and we have seen that the economy is stabilizing. He’s doing well, and we have the funds to do our projects without owing the banks or leaving debts for future administrations,” Eno said.
The governor also reaffirmed his support for Senate President Godswill Akpabio, pledging to work with him for the benefit of the state.
Eno further issued a stern warning to contractors handling government projects, particularly the Mbiabong–Atan–Ikon–Inya Road, insisting that the contract would be terminated if the project is not completed within three months.
He emphasized that his administration was focused on fulfilling its mandate and would not tolerate unnecessary delays.
