Dr. Omini, who was actively involved in monitoring the protests across the Federal Capital Territory and various states, has called for a shift from continuous protest to meaningful dialogue. His deployment of IHRPS staff aimed to ensure comprehensive monitoring and protect the rights of all participants during these demonstrations.

In his observations, Dr. Omini noted the significant role of dialogue in addressing the issues that have driven the protests. He emphasized that while protests are a critical avenue for expressing dissent, they should be paired with efforts to engage in discussions with the government. His statement also highlighted concerns about the escalation of violence, destruction of public property, and looting of private businesses during the protests.

“There is a pressing need for dialogue rather than ongoing protests,” Dr. Omini stated. “While expressing grievances is essential, it is equally important to engage in discussions to find sustainable solutions. Violence and destruction undermine the goals of peaceful protest and hinder progress.”

Dr. Omini’s call to action urges relevant stakeholders, including civil society groups, to work collaboratively with the government. He advocates for a structured dialogue process to address the core issues effectively and avoid further escalation.
