In a video obtained by NEWS WEEK NIGERIA, Wike, who appeared uncomfortable, could be seen struggling to keep the cameraman’s lens away from his face.
This was revealed by Badaru at the state banquet in honour of President-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who accompanied him to inaugurate projects in the oil-rich state of Rivers.
NEWS WEEK NIGERIA had earlier reported that in a state broadcast on Tuesday, Governor Wike declared Wednesday a public holiday and urged Rivers residents to turn out in large numbers to welcome the incoming president.
Wike acknowledged that he had backed Bola Tinubu for president and stated that he had no regrets about doing so.
He said:
“I have no regrets that I supported Tinubu as president, but if he fails, he’s in trouble. You know how you work, some of us were plotting on how to make it ungovernable for you and make it difficult for him. But we’re not punishing him, we’re punishing Nigerians. So I advise everyone to leave their personal interests and support Bola Tinubu.”
