UNGA78: Tinubu, Betta Edu Take Requests for Partnership, Durable Solutions To UN On Humanitarian Crises & Poverty Alleviation In Nigeria
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will this Friday lead the Minister for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr. Betta Edu, and other members of the Nigerian delegation, to the high-level side event at the 78th United Nations General Assembly to request partnership for durable solutions to humanitarian crises and poverty alleviation in Nigeria.

The event is aimed at providing Humanitarian agencies with some form of durable solutions and options including voluntary local integration and resettlement being the preferred solution.
The gathering will provide a short, medium, and long-term durable solutions process that involves addressing human rights, humanitarian crises solutions, reconstruction, peace-building and Poverty Alleviation challenges which requires coordinated and timely engagement by a wide range of stakeholders including the United Nations Agencies.
The side event holding at the United States Plaza,12th floor, New York, will also draw world leaders’ attention on the need to address human and climate-inducing displacement and Poverty in Nigeria.
The event will be declared open by the President and Commander In Chief of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The President will be joined by the United Nations Deputy Secretary General, Amina Mohammed.
Other important dignitaries attending the high-level event include the United Nations Under Secretary General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator, Martin Griffiths, and Ambassador Tijjani Muhammed-Bande, the Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Nigeria to the United Nations General Assembly.
Participating development partners are UNHCR, World Bank, UNFPA, UNICEF Microsoft, African Union, UNDP, IOM, and Global Chambers among others.
