It has come to our attention that a large number of northern leaders are taking steps toward endorsing Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) as the consensus candidate for the northern region in the presidential election of 2023.

According to a number of sources that our correspondent has spoken with, the northern leaders have reportedly requested that Alhaji Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, candidate for the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), step down in favour of Atiku so that the PDP candidate can win the majority of the votes from the north.

In light of the position taken by the northern leaders to adopt Atiku Abubakar, the southern leaders need to move quickly and adopt Mr. Peter Obi as the sole presidential candidate for the south.

If the north chooses Atiku, then Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the Atiku Abubakar, All Progressives Congress (APC) will be the ultimate loser. This is due to the fact that the APC presidential candidate is banking on receiving votes from the north, and more specifically from the north west, in order to win the presidential election.

Now that Tinubu has been defeated as a result of the northern plot to make Atiku their candidate, the fight will now be between Atiku and Obi.

Peter Obi is receiving an overwhelming amount of support from residents of the South East and South South regions. Additionally, he has the backing of the states of Benue, Plateau, and Taraba. Voters in the states of Lagos and Ogun are behind him in significant numbers.

As a result, Peter Obi enjoys greater support in the South and North Central than Tinubu does. For this reason, the leaders from the South need to act quickly in order to convince Tinubu to step down so that Obi can take his place.

This is the only way that the south can prevent the north from imposing Atiku on us in 2023, and it must be done.
