Tinubu might face disqualification over dual citizenship mess.
News Week Nigeria reports that the presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has landed in a dual citizenship mess.
An investigative journalist, David Hundeyin made the revelation in the early hours of today with a Guinea passport of the president-elect as proof. He shared the data page which carries Tinubu’s details and a confirmation that he claims to hail from guinea.
This has led to arguments on the social media and has gotten the APC members jittery. There are talks about Tinubu being disqualified as a presidential candidate because the law states that a dual citizen cannot become the president of Nigeria.
The Nigeria constitution states a person is disqualified from being a president if they have voluntarily acquired the citizenship of another country other than that of Nigeria.
In a tweet, Omotayo Williams opined that Tinubu is not qualified to be the president of Nigeria. This is no longer a fight against a drug offender. This is a fight to protect our constitution and the future of the country
The authenticity of the documents could not be guaranteed at the time of filing the report but if it is anything to go by, Tinubu may be disqualified if confirmed.
