Deputy Chief Whip of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Hon. Ted Elemeforo, has accused President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of political double standards, insisting that he and other All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders owe former President Goodluck Jonathan a public apology.
Speaking during an interview on Arise Television’s Prime Time on Wednesday, Elemeforo said he has no confidence in the Tinubu-led administration, describing the APC government as incapable of resolving Nigeria’s economic and security challenges.
According to him, his steadfast loyalty to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stems from conviction rather than convenience, despite recent political realignments in Bayelsa, including the defection of Governor Douye Diri to the APC.

“I do not believe that the APC is a solution to Nigeria’s problem, and I do not have faith in the Tinubu-led APC government. I believe that the PDP would offer a better alternative to solve the problem of Nigeria,” he said.
Elemeforo accused the APC of hypocrisy, recalling that many of the issues it used to campaign against Jonathan — including fuel subsidy — are now being implemented by its own government.
“In this country, there is always a double standard. People like Tinubu that protested against oil subsidy need to publicly apologize to President Goodluck Jonathan for implementing what they earlier criticized,” he declared.

The lawmaker further argued that APC’s failure to deliver on its promises has vindicated the PDP, expressing optimism that the opposition party remains capable of restoring Nigeria’s economy and unity if given another chance at the national level.
