Obasanjo Gives EFCC Seven-Day Ultimatum, Demands Solid Evidence for Breaking Into Its Presidential Library
Tension is brewing between former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s Presidential Library and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) following an alleged invasion of the facility by operatives of the anti-graft agency.
The management of the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) has issued a seven-day ultimatum to the EFCC to tender a public apology or face legal action.

Speaking at a press conference in Abeokuta, OOPL’s Managing Director, Mr. Vitalis Ortese, condemned the invasion, describing it as “an assault on everything the presidential library stands for.”
According to Ortese, the EFCC’s actions not only violated the sanctity of the institution but also inflicted damage and distress on its staff and occupants, including former President Obasanjo himself, who resides within the premises.
The OOPL is also demanding N3.5 billion in compensation for the victims and the library.

In his address, the library’s legal adviser, Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) Olumide Ayeni, presented what he called “solid evidence” of the raid to journalists, including photographs of spent bullet shells and an EFCC-branded beret allegedly left behind by the operatives.
Ayeni maintained that the OOPL is fully prepared to challenge the EFCC in court if it fails to meet their demands within the stipulated timeframe.
The EFCC has not yet issued an official response to the allegations as the standoff threatens to escalate into a high-profile legal battle.
