Southern Group Commend Cross River Assembly for Prompt Recovery of State-Owned Construction Equipment

The leadership of the Cross River South Consultative Forum (CRSCF) has extended its heartfelt commendation to the 10th Cross River State House of Assembly (CRSHA), led by Rt. Hon. Elvert Ayambem, for its decisive efforts in recovering state-owned heavy-duty construction equipment.

In a commendable demonstration of commitment to transparency and accountability, the Assembly swiftly acted upon its resolution on Thursday, 22nd February 2024, to investigate and recover 34 state-owned heavy-duty construction equipment allegedly misappropriated during the previous administration.

CRSCF, while commending the House for its prompt action, urges them not to spare any effort in recovering all misappropriated assets of the Commonwealth of Cross River State. This call is in line with the People First Mantra of Senator Prince Bassey Otu’s Administration.

Acknowledging the successful recovery of 7 out of the identified equipment, including a 1050k Dozer, payloader, Grader, 850J Dozer, Backo, and 2 Excavators, CRSCF recognizes the logistical challenges faced, particularly in transporting the remaining 23 equipment back to Calabar. The forum appreciates the Assembly’s dedication to continuing the recovery exercise in the coming week.

The forum in a joint statement signed by prominent members including Hon. Eyo Nsa Ekpo Esq., Hon. Joseph E. Etene Esq., Prof. Emmanuel Eyo Esq., Hon. Victor Okon, Sir Maurice Effiwatt, Hon. Ada Charles Egwu, Rev’d. James Anam, and Hon. Ani Esin, aligns itself with Rt. Hon. Elvert Ayambem’s commitment to ensuring the recovery of all 30 stolen pieces of equipment. This effort not only upholds justice but also results in significant financial savings for the Cross River State Government, originally allocated for rentals and the procurement of new machinery.
