Shehu Sani Urges FG to work hard to avert looming threat of an organic protests led by hungry, unemployed, homeless Nigerians
Former Kaduna Senator Shehu Sani has warned the Nigerian government, led by President Bola Tinubu, of the urgent need to address underlying grievances to prevent a potentially catastrophic wave of protests.
Sani emphasized that the most alarming protests are not those orchestrated by organized bodies like labour unions, civil society groups, or opposition parties. Rather, he pointed to the looming threat of an organic protest led by the most vulnerable Nigerians in the country – the hungry, homeless, unemployed, and downtrodden.

Highlighting the unpredictable nature of such protests, Sani stressed that they do not adhere to scheduled timelines and are fueled by a sense of desperation among those with nothing to lose but their chains.
He wrote: “The most dreadful protests are not the controlled ones organised by the Labour Unions, the organised civil society or the opposition parties. The protests this country should work hard to avert is the organic one led by the hungry, the homeless, the unemployed, the downtrodden and the dregs of the streets; this kind of protest doesn’t come with notice of date of commencement or date of suspension, this protest is the kind led by people who have nothing to lose but their shackles; this is the kind of protest the Government and nation must avoid.”
