Second Term Not Guaranteed for Governors Otu, Others — Primate Ayodele Warns

The spiritual leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has issued a stern warning to several Nigerian governors, cautioning that their bid for a second term in office is far from certain.

In a statement released on Sunday by his media aide, Oluwatosin Osho, Primate Ayodele listed governors from Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Delta, Enugu, Ondo, Kaduna, and Zamfara states as those who must intensify their efforts—both politically and spiritually—if they hope to return to office after their current tenure.

“The governors of Akwa Ibom, Delta, Enugu, Cross River, Kaduna, Zamfara, and Ondo must work well to get a second term in office. It’s not certain for them except they work hard and pray,” Ayodele stated.

“This is a hint of what they should be expecting. They need to work very well so that they won’t lose their second-term ambition.”

The pronouncement directly puts the spotlight on governors such as Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom and Bassey Otu of Cross River, both of whom are currently serving their first terms.

Primate Ayodele, known for his political prophecies, also took aim at Senate President Godswill Akpabio, warning him to tread carefully if he intends to retain his leadership position in the Red Chamber.

“Senate President Godswill Akpabio must be very careful and prayerful to get a second term as Senate President. I see his position being traded; he must work very hard to avoid it,” he warned.

In addition, the cleric predicted that several prominent lawmakers, including senators and members of the House of Representatives, would not return to the National Assembly in the next election cycle. He singled out Senator Ned Nwoko of Delta State, advising him to shelve his rumored governorship ambition, stating that “it’s not yet his time.”

Primate Ayodele’s statements come amid growing political maneuvering across the country as politicians begin early preparations for the 2027 general elections.
