Rivers Youths Vow to Vote Against Tinubu in 2027

Youths in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, have taken to the streets to sensitise residents against voting for President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.

A 45-second video sighted by DAILY POST on X showed the youths moving through parts of the city while calling on residents to reject the APC at the polls.

The youths accused the Tinubu administration of worsening hardship in the country, alleging that poor governance and economic policies had subjected Nigerians to severe hunger and poverty.

Chanting in Pidgin English, they questioned the availability of basic necessities such as food and electricity under the current administration.

“You get food for house? No, you get light for house? No. Hunger dey. Tinubu brought hunger through bad government,” they chanted.

The protesters also argued that the Federal Government had failed to adequately address the economic challenges facing Nigerians, urging voters to use the 2027 elections to effect a change in leadership.

Their campaign comes amid growing political manoeuvring in Rivers State ahead of the 2027 elections.

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory and former Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, had recently declared that there would be no opposition in the state in 2027.

Wike maintained that eligible voters in Rivers were united behind President Tinubu’s re-election bid and would support the President at the polls.

The former governor has also assembled a political coalition comprising members of different political parties who have rallied behind candidates supported by him.

The contrasting positions highlight the emerging political battle in Rivers State, where the 2027 presidential election is expected to generate intense competition between supporters of the Tinubu administration and opposition forces.

With the election still months away, political groups and grassroots movements are already stepping up mobilisation efforts as parties position themselves for what promises to be a closely contested political season.
