Reps move to increase retirement age for legislative workers
The House of Representatives on Wednesday moved to increase the retirement age and years of service for legislative workers within the nation.
The House Chief Whip, Tahir Monguno, who sponsored the invoice, stated there may be the necessity to professionalise the service and make sure the switch of data and expertise by the highest administration employees who’re on the verge of leaving the system.
According to him, the invoice seeks to increase the retirement age for legislative workers from 60 years to 65 years and repair years from 35 years to 40 years.

Monguno burdened that the invoice is important to fortify the paperwork within the legislature.
He, nevertheless, insisted that the invoice would assist construct institutional reminiscence and develop a profession development plan within the National Assembly.

The Chief Whip stated: “This hopes to lead to modest improvement in the condition of service for staff, strengthen and reposition the legislature by laying a solid foundation for sustainable legislative bureaucracy.”
