President Tinubu Endorses PDP Governor Peter Mbah for Second Term
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reportedly endorsed Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State for a second term in office, despite Mbah being a member of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The revelation was made by oil magnate and philanthropist, Prince Arthur Eze, during a ceremony marking the second anniversary of Governor Mbah’s administration in Enugu on Thursday.

“God is a wonderful God. He brought Peter Mbah to change Igboland,” Eze declared to a cheering audience. “Let me tell you, Tinubu has already endorsed him for second term. Tinubu endorsed him for second term because he has character. He is very honest. Nobody will stop him.”
According to Eze, the governor’s performance in the last two years has been transformational, citing his ability to implement reforms and infrastructure development without resorting to borrowing from financial institutions.
Mbah, a first-term governor under the PDP, has been credited with pushing an ambitious modernization agenda in Enugu State, earning praise even from members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The news of Tinubu’s alleged endorsement raises eyebrows in Nigeria’s often polarized political landscape, where cross-party support is rare. If confirmed, this would mark a significant moment of political pragmatism and national unity.
Eze, who has recently praised President Tinubu for his inclusive leadership style, also reiterated his admiration during the event. Speaking on a State House documentary released earlier this week to commemorate Tinubu’s second year in office, Eze called the president “God’s gift to Nigeria.”
“Tinubu has no enemies. He is a unifier. He speaks with humility and honesty,” Eze said in the documentary. “What Tinubu has done for the South-East, nobody else has. He gave us the Minister of Works, the Minister of Science and Technology, and the South-East Development Commission.”

He urged Igbos to seize what he described as a historic opportunity to unite with the rest of the country.
Neither the Presidency nor Governor Mbah’s office has officially confirmed the reported endorsement, but the comments have already sparked widespread political speculation and reactions across the country.
As the 2027 elections draw nearer, the alleged backing of a PDP governor by an APC president could signal a shift in Nigeria’s political dynamics—one where performance and unity might begin to transcend party lines.
