Presidency Agrees to Sacrifice Ganduje and Shettima to bring in Kwankwaso —Galadima

A major political shake-up is underway within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), following the reported resignation of Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje as National Chairman.

Sources within the party suggest that Ganduje’s resignation may not have been entirely voluntary.

According to elder statesman and seasoned political analyst, Buba Galadima, the move is part of a broader strategy by the presidency and top APC stakeholders to realign the party’s leadership and forge new political alliances ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Galadima revealed that a high-level meeting took place three days ago involving senior APC figures and representatives of the presidency, during which it was allegedly agreed that both Ganduje and Vice President Kashim Shettima would be “sacrificed” to pave way for a political realignment — one that includes potentially bringing former Kano State Governor and opposition heavyweight, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, into the APC fold.

“I am not aware of any formal defection plan,” Galadima said in a statement on Friday. “But I know there are personal issues between Ganduje and Kwankwaso. I am also aware that there was a meeting between APC stakeholders and the presidency where it was agreed that Ganduje and Shettima should be sacrificed to bring in a new group into the party and government.”

The revelation has thrown the party’s internal structure into turmoil, with many party faithful expressing unease over the implications of ousting a sitting Vice President and the National Chairman for strategic gains.

Ganduje, who governed Kano State between 2015 and 2023, has faced mounting criticism over his leadership style and unresolved corruption allegations. His longstanding feud with Kwankwaso, his political godfather-turned-rival, has further complicated his standing within the party.

The APC has issued an official statement confirming Ganduje’s resignation but yet to clarify its position on Shettima. However, insiders say consultations are ongoing to identify new leadership figures that align more closely with President Bola Tinubu’s evolving political strategy.

Analysts suggest the development could signify a significant recalibration within the ruling party, especially as the political class begins positioning for the next electoral cycle.

With the future of Vice President Shettima also reportedly in question, and the potential inclusion of Kwankwaso — a leading figure in the opposition — the APC may be on the cusp of a dramatic reconfiguration that could reshape Nigeria’s political landscape ahead of 2027.
