PDP Vows to Dismantle ADC Coalition Platform
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has declared that it is unbothered by the recent wave of defections to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), vowing to dismantle the emerging coalition formed on the ADC platform ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking at the party’s 101st National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Abuja, PDP Acting National Chairman, Ambassador Umar Damagum, dismissed the coalition as a “misguided venture” and predicted its eventual collapse.

Damagum, addressing party stakeholders, noted that while some members had left the PDP for the ADC-led alliance, several have already returned after what he described as a rude awakening.
“Some even claim they never left and merely attended a meeting,” Damagum said, referring to recent returnees. “We accept their confessions without prejudice,” he added, stressing that the trend of reversals is not limited to PDP defectors alone.
According to him, members from other parties who initially joined the ADC coalition have also started retracing their steps, realizing that the platform lacks viability and long-term political promise.

“Individuals from other political parties who initially joined this coalition have realised that the venture is ill-fated and their swift return is proof of this,” Damagum stated.
Reiterating the PDP’s confidence in its strength and national spread, the party chairman emphasized that the PDP remains the only truly national political platform capable of reclaiming power and addressing Nigeria’s pressing challenges.
“We remain the only party not only poised and ready to take back power, but also the only party with the structure, national acceptability, and legacy capable of bearing the weight of this great national undertaking,” he declared.

Damagum concluded by extending best wishes to those still aligned with the ADC coalition, while affirming the PDP’s determination to dismantle what he called an “ill-fated coalition.”
