Obasanjo’s ally, Akin Mabogunje, dies at 90



Prof. Akin Mabogunje, a well known affiliate of former president Olusegun Obasanjo, has handed away.

Mabogunje handed away on Thursday after receiving therapy for a well being subject. His age was 90.

He served because the International Geographical Union’s first-ever African president (IGU).



Mabogunje presided over the Ibadan School of Government and Public Policy up till his dying.

President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed his condolences for the late Professor.

Prof. Mabogunje’s passing “will be greatly felt by the nation, especially the academia,” based on a press release by Femi Adesina, the Special Advisor to the President on Media and Publicity.


Buhari additionally expressed his condolences to Prof. Mabogunje’s household, associates, and colleagues.

Professor of geography Akin Mabogunje is a well known and revered mental from Nigeria.


His BA(Hons) and Masters levels have been earned at University College London (UCL), and between 1956 and 1961, he accomplished a PhD at the University of London.

At the yearly International Festival of Geography in Saint-Dié in northeastern France, he was awarded the (*90*) Vautrin-Lud, which is taken into account the “Nobel Prize for Geography” for 2017.
