Recall that Fani-Kayode, who is known for his unwavering and constant support for Gaza, has called on the International Criminal Court (ICC) to declare Israel a pariah state following the invasion and occupation of Gaza since the October 7 2023 Hamas attack.
The former minister also supported South Africa for taking Israel to the ICC labeling its actions as “genocide, injustice and ethnic cleansing”.
Fani-Kayode said this in an interview with a foreign media where he expressed optimism that the highest world court would do the right thing.
Recall that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has vowed that the fighting would continue in Rafah even during Ramadan unless Hamas releases hostages taken captive.
Reacting in the interview, Fani-Kayode said, “So, I’m very happy with ICJ, I would have wanted them to go farther in their last ruling. It was quite explicit that Israel should desist from committing the atrocities.
“But we know Iresal refused to do it. They continue to ignore it. Now they are about to begin something that would be worse massacre in Rafah if something is not done. And this time around, the ICC must go ahead and declare Israel a pariah state before the world.”
The ex-minister heaped praises on South Africa saying, “I’ve been proud that South Africa went to the highest court in the world. They have exposed the atrocities that are being committed by the State of Israel to the people of Palestine.”
He said further, “I believe that the majority of African people are delighted with it. South Africa has come to show the lead and be a shining example for the rest of Africa and the rest of the world of what should be done when we are faced with genocide, injustice, ethnic cleansing, and all manners of evil especially killing and targeting women and children.”
