Nigerian Wife Poisons Husband’s Food Days After Wedding 

The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 19-year-old woman, Aisha Musa, for allegedly attempting to kill her husband by poisoning his food in Gwamma Village, Bauchi Local Government Area.

According to the police, the incident occurred on August 12, 2026, about 40 days after the suspect got married to the victim.

The Police Public Relations Officer in Bauchi State, SP Nafiu Habib, said the command received a distress call at about 7:40 p.m. from an anonymous woman residing in the Wunti Dada area of Bauchi.

Following the alert, officers from the ‘C’ Division, Tafawa Balewa Estate, reportedly moved to the scene and rescued the victim.

The man was subsequently taken to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, Bauchi, where he is currently receiving medical treatment and is said to be in stable condition.

Habib said the suspect was arrested shortly after the alleged incident and reportedly confessed during police interrogation.

The police spokesman added that investigators recovered an empty bottle suspected to have contained the poisonous substance, alongside remnants of the meal allegedly consumed by the victim.

The items were reportedly registered as exhibits to aid the ongoing investigation.

The Commissioner of Police, Bauchi State Command, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has ordered the transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.

According to Habib, the suspect will be charged to court after the completion of the investigation.

The police command reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property across the state, while urging residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
