Nigerian visa applicants must now provide five-year social media history ~ US

The United States Mission in Nigeria has issued a new directive mandating Nigerians to submit all their social media accounts used in the last five years while applying for a US visa.

The US Embassy announced this in a post shared on its official page on X on Monday morning.

“Visa applicants are required to list all social media usernames or handles of every platform they have used from the last 5 years on the DS-160 visa application form,” the post read in part.

The embassy further noted that applicants must certify that the information in their visa application is true and correct before they sign and submit it for vetting.

Failure to adhere to this directive and omitting social media information could lead to visa denial and ineligibility for future visas.
