Nigeria will not bow to foreign agents seeking to destabilise the country — Tinubu warns
President Bola Tinubu has said Nigeria will not bow to those who seek to destabilise the country under whatever guise.
Addressing troops of the 17 Brigade of the Nigerian Army in Katsina on Friday, Tinubu said, “those who seek to destabilise Nigeria, be they domestic collaborators or foreign agents—hear this: Nigeria will not bow. Not to fear. Not to terror. Not to treachery,”

“Every inch of ground you hold, every terrorist you neutralise, and every community you secure is a victory for justice, freedom, and the future of our children. The fight you are waging across the country is not just a battle for territory but for the soul of Nigeria”, Tinubu said.
He also described troops of the Nigerian Armed Forces as the “shield of Nigeria” and “silent guardians of our democracy.”
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ensuring their families are safe, their allowances are paid promptly, their healthcare is guaranteed, and their dignity is upheld.

“Your sacrifices do not go unnoticed. This war will not be won by weapons alone but by your will to stand, resist, fight, and triumph.
“I will match your courage with action, investment, and unwavering support”, he said.
This comes after the Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Mohammed Matawalle, called for increased support from the United States to address Nigeria’s evolving security challenges.

Matawalle requested intelligence sharing and capacity building to effectively combat terrorism, insurgency, and transnational threats.
