N94m scam: Suspected Yahoo Boys Shoot Colleague Over sharing formula in Edo

Edo State authorities are investigating a violent dispute among suspected internet fraudsters (popularly known as Yahoo boys) that resulted in the shooting of one of their members.

The altercation reportedly stemmed from a disagreement over the sharing formula for N94 million, allegedly obtained from an online scam.

The incident occurred on Sunday along Okhoro Road in Egor Local Government Area.

According to eyewitness accounts, the victim, identified as an “Aza Man” — a term used to describe someone who provides a bank account to receive illicit funds — was accosted by his assailants while driving his SUV.

A source close to the situation explained that the gunmen, also suspected members of the fraud syndicate, intercepted the victim in their vehicle, forced him out, and shot him at close range.

The victim’s refusal to share the proceeds of the scam as initially agreed reportedly led to the attack.

“The Aza man was supposed to get a percentage of the N94 million but decided to keep the entire amount. His refusal to split the money with the group sparked the confrontation,” the source revealed.

Edo State Police Command spokesperson, SP Moses Yamu, confirmed the incident on Tuesday. He disclosed that the victim is receiving treatment at a local medical facility and assured the public that investigations are underway to apprehend the perpetrators.
