N-Power : FG announces payment of outstanding stipends to beneficiaries

The federal government is to commence backlog of stipends to N-power beneficiaries.

The Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, in a statement signed by it’s minister, Dr. Betta Edu, said there is an ongoing committee setup already to audit what has been done in terms of her operation, those paid and not paid.

She said;

“Npower is one of the programmes which we are trying to completely restructure, there’s an ongoing committee setup already to audit what has been done in terms of her operation, those paid and not paid etc. They had money kept for a long while and were later wiped off by some agencies.

“There’s also a situation where they took more persons than what was budgeted for, wrong bio data details, exited beneficiaries wanting exit packages, etc.”

She concluded:

“A lot of people are looking into this as they was too many discrepancies that were met, we will clean it up and rejig the programme completely and hopefully by January next year we will commence payment because there’s a whole lot of work to be done.”

Lastly, she stated that by October through December, a well restructured Npower Program will commence.
