Labour Party crisis: ‘He Is Not Only Dwarfy In Appearance, He Is Dwarfy In Knowledge’ — Julius Abure Rains Abuses on Governor Otti, Sets Up Committee To Punish Him
The internal crisis rocking the Labour Party (LP) has escalated as the factional National Executive Committee (NEC) led by Julius Abure launched a blistering verbal attack on Abia State Governor Alex Otti, while also announcing the formation of a disciplinary committee to investigate alleged anti-party activities.
The development was announced during an emergency NEC meeting held at the party’s secretariat in Abuja.

Nigeria will not bow to foreign agents seeking to destabilise the country — Tinubu warns
In a communiqué signed by Abure and the party’s National Secretary, Farouk Umar, the NEC disclosed that Governor Otti and other unnamed party members are being probed for conduct considered detrimental to the party’s cohesion and principles.
According to the statement, the disciplinary committee will be chaired by Dr. Ayo Olorunfemi, with Alhaji Umar Farouk Ibrahim as Secretary. Other members include Kehinde Edun, Mrs. Dudu Manuga, and Callistus Ihejiagwa.

The committee has been given a two-week deadline to submit its findings.
In a fiery address during the meeting, Abure dismissed recent claims by Otti that the party’s leadership had been reclaimed. Reacting sharply, Abure criticized the governor’s public remarks, particularly his use of the term “masturbating” to describe the NEC’s efforts to retain control of the party.

Abure did not mince words, stating, “Dwarfy and Lilliputian men were once considered men of great ideas. But Alex Otti is not only dwarfy in appearance—he is dwarfy in knowledge.”
He further accused Governor Otti of betrayal, noting that the party had made considerable sacrifices to support his governorship bid. “We made Governor Alex Otti. We supported him, made sacrifices, rejected bribes and offers, just so he could become the governor he is today,” he said.
Abure also condemned Otti’s handling of the recent Supreme Court ruling involving the party, accusing the governor of attempting to weaponize the court’s Certified True Copy (CTC) document to intimidate the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

“See how a whole governor reduced himself to carrying the Supreme Court CTC, thinking he could intimidate and harass INEC. But we know INEC is a civilised institution guided by law and procedure,” he stated.
The Labour Party has been mired in internal strife for months, with factions emerging over control of the party’s leadership and direction. Governor Otti, one of the party’s most prominent elected officials, has yet to publicly respond to the latest remarks.
