Senator Eteng moves motion as South-south State Endorses Tinubu for second term

 

 

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Cross River State has endorsed President Bola Tinubu and Governor Bassey Otu for second term in office ahead of the 2027 general elections.

 

The endorsement was announced on Sunday at a stakeholders’ meeting held in Ikom Local Government Area. The meeting was convened by the Central Progressives Initiative in collaboration with the party’s central leadership.

 

Senator Eteng Williams, representing Cross River Central Senatorial District, moved the motion for the endorsement, which was unanimously adopted through a voice vote chaired by former Deputy Governor Clement Ebri.

 

Addressing the gathering, Williams said the endorsement reflected a consensus among political leaders and constituents in the central senatorial district, citing Otu’s developmental achievements and Tinubu’s national reforms as reasons for the support.

 

“The decision is not arbitrary but a reflection of the collective will of our people who are satisfied with the progress so far and are calling for continuity,” Williams said.

 

The meeting was attended by key party figures, including Minister of State for Industry, John Owan-Enoh; former Senate Leader, Victor Ndoma-Egba; Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Elvert Ayambem; federal and state lawmakers; six local government chairmen from the senatorial district; and members of the Central Commissioners’ Forum.

 

Former Senate Leader Ndoma-Egba reaffirmed the party’s commitment to power rotation and argued that Otu deserved a second term based on his performance.

 

Similarly, Ambassador Soni Abang, a former PDP chairman and now a member of the South South Development Commission, said early endorsements would allow for strategic planning ahead of the elections.
