JUST IN: Rivers Youth Issue 48-Hour Ultimatum to Speaker Amaewhule to Impeach Fubara Shortly After Being Cleared by APC Screening Committee

 

 

 

A group of Rivers State youth have issued a 48-hour ultimatum to the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Martins Amaewhule, demanding the immediate impeachment of Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

 

The ultimatum was issued by a prominent youth group in the state led by Comrade Stewart Ikechukwu, who accused the governor of failing to fulfill critical constitutional responsibilities, particularly the presentation of the state budget.

 

According to the group, Governor Fubara’s alleged failure to submit the appropriation bill to the Assembly has stalled governance and negatively affected development across the state.

 

The development comes shortly after Governor Fubara was cleared by the All Progressives Congress screening committee to contest for a second term in 2027, a move that has further intensified political discussions within the state.

 

In a statement, Comrade Ikechukwu expressed dissatisfaction with what he described as the governor’s “nonchalant attitude” toward governance and public administration. He also tendered an apology to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, over the ongoing political crisis rocking the state.

 

The youth leader maintained that the continued delay in budget presentation has crippled several government activities and weakened administrative processes in Rivers State.

 

He further declared that the group would support any political candidate endorsed by Wike in future elections, signaling growing loyalty to the former Rivers governor amid the lingering power struggle in the state.

 

 

As of the time of filing this report, neither the Rivers State Government nor the Rivers State House of Assembly had officially responded to the impeachment call or the ultimatum issued by the youth body.
