Former Governor, Yahaya Bello’s Deputy, Other Stakeholders Visit Atiku As Coalition Against Tinubu Gathers Momentum
A political stir is brewing in Nigeria as a delegation of key political figures from Kogi State, led by former Deputy Governor Simon Asuba, paid a visit to former Vice President and two-time presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, at his Abuja residence on Wednesday.
The visit, which was confirmed by Atiku in a video post on his official X (formerly Twitter) handle, is being viewed by analysts as part of broader consultations and coalition-building efforts ahead of the next general elections.

“Yesterday, I received a delegation of stakeholders from the Kogi East Senatorial Zone led by former Deputy Governor of Kogi State, Simon Asuba,” Atiku wrote, accompanying the message with a video clip of the meeting.
Simon Asuba served as deputy governor under Yahaya Bello from 2016 until 2019 before being replaced by Edward Onoja ahead of the last election cycle.
His re-emergence on the national scene, particularly in alliance with Atiku, has sparked speculation about renewed opposition strategies aimed at unseating President Bola Tinubu.

Though details of the closed-door meeting were not disclosed, the presence of notable political figures from Kogi East and their overtures to the PDP heavyweight have fueled conversations about the formation of a formidable coalition in preparation for 2027.
