JUST IN: Explosion Rocks Party Secretariat In Port Harcourt

In the early hours of Monday morning, a powerful dynamite explosion rocked the secretariat of the Action People’s Party (APP) in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, raising alarms of politically motivated violence in the state.

The blast, which occurred around 1 a.m., caused significant damage to the building, shattering windows and doors and destroying valuable party property. Eyewitnesses report that unknown assailants hurled dynamite-like devices into the premises, leaving a trail of destruction in their wake.

This incident comes at a time of heightened political tension in Rivers State, with rumors circulating that Governor Siminalayi Fubara is planning to defect to the APP along with his supporters. These speculations have intensified amid allegations that former Governor Nyesom Wike has tightened his grip on the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, leaving Fubara and his allies marginalized.

A senior APP official, who requested anonymity due to the sensitivity of the situation, expressed concerns that the attack was driven by political motives.

“This is undoubtedly politically motivated,” the official stated. “The APP is growing rapidly in Rivers State, and this attack is clearly an attempt to intimidate us. We urge the police to conduct a thorough investigation and bring the perpetrators to justice.”

Despite the severity of the incident, the Rivers State Police Command has yet to acknowledge the explosion, leaving questions unanswered and tensions simmering as the political landscape in the state continues to shift.
