Job Seekers in High Spirits as FG Suspends Recruitment into Immigration, Fire Service
Thousands of job seekers across Nigeria are expressing optimism despite a temporary suspension of the ongoing recruitment exercise into key paramilitary agencies by the Federal Government.
The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) announced the suspension of applications into the Nigeria Immigration Service, Civil Defence Corps, Correctional Service, and Fire Service, citing technical issues due to overwhelming traffic on the recruitment portal.

The pause, which took effect on Wednesday, July 16, is expected to last until Monday, July 21, 2025, during which the board says it will work to improve the platform’s capacity and efficiency.
According to a statement from the CDCFIB, the suspension was necessary to address persistent slow loading times and frequent crashes caused by the volume of applicants trying to access the portal simultaneously.
“This break will give us the opportunity to upgrade the system and ensure that all applicants can complete their registrations without stress when the platform reopens,” the board said.

Many applicants had earlier taken to social media to express frustration over the difficulty in accessing the portal. However, the latest move has been met with renewed hope, with many job seekers now looking forward to a smoother experience.
The board also used the opportunity to express appreciation for the growing interest of Nigerian youths in serving the country through paramilitary agencies. It pledged to ensure transparency, fairness, and equal opportunity for all eligible candidates.
