“I’m Still A PDP Member, But The Truth Remains That Desperate Situations Require Desperate Measures” — Fubara Reaffirms Loyalty to PDP
Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has reaffirmed his loyalty to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), quelling rumors of an impending defection to the opposition All Peoples Party (APP).
Speaking to journalists at the Government House in Port Harcourt, shortly after the swearing-in ceremony of newly elected local government chairmen, Fubara addressed the speculation surrounding his political allegiance.
In response to rumors circulating about a possible move to the APP, the governor dismissed such claims, reiterating his commitment to the PDP.
“I want to assure you, I still remain a member of PDP,” Fubara said. However, he also acknowledged the complexities of the current political landscape, adding, “but the truth remains that desperate situations require desperate measures.”
In another development, NEWS WEEK NIGERIA had previously reported that Fubara has sworn in the newly elected chairmen of the 23 local government councils in the state.
The swearing-in started at 4:20pm on Sunday.
This followed the successful presentation of certificates of return to the democratically elected chairmen in the local government elections held across the state on Saturday, October 5, 2024.
The swearing-in was witnessed by the Governor of Bauchi State and Chairman, Peoples Democratic Party Governors’ Forum, Senator Bala Mohammed, and distinguished.
