I’ll Empower The People, Make Appointments Unattractive To Young Cross Riverians – Otu

 

 

Cross River State governor-elect, Prince Bassey Otu has said that his administration will make appointments unattractive to young people by empowering them with skills and resources to be enterprising and self reliance.

 

The former lawmaker said he will empower young people to live their dreams and forget about appointments into government offices.

Otu spoke on “The People’s First” Manifesto shortly after receiving his Certificate of Returns from the electoral umpire, INEC, and included this in his plans for government. In every policy or action of his administration, he promised to put the needs of the people first. He also promised to make appointments unappealing to young people by equipping them with the knowledge and tools they need to be resourceful and independent.

He said he will provide an enabling environment for businesses and entrepreneurs to flourish, while subsidising all factors of production.

He stated that;

For the youths and women, your time has come, people will see and envy you, they shouldn’t be envy and bitterness anymore in Cross River State. Appointments won’t be popular again, we will support our young people in various skills development and support their entrepreneurial dreams. We will make the state business friendly and subsidies all factors of production.”

 

“Like the party chairman as said, Monkey work Monkey chop, no big man will come and reap the fruits of your labour”

 

“We will increase Women participation in governance, we will give Cross River State a facelift. I will not let you down, my words is my bond, if I cannot do it, I won’t say it. But initially there will be sacrifices from us all.” He concluded. 

 

He also used the opportunity to thank the party for standing strong all through the various stages of the campaigns.

APC’s Prince Otu who defeated his closest cchallenger, Sandy Onor of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), polled a total number of 258,619 votes while the PDP candidate,  Onor polled 179,636 votes. Ogar Osim of the Labour Party, got 5957 votes.

 

NEWS WEEK-NG reports that, out of the total registered voters of 1,766,466 only 466, 294 were accredited to vote. At the end of the day, 460, 856 votes were duly cast.

 

PDP struggled to win only three local government areas of the state while APC won 15.
