Ikom LG Boss Pledges Full Support for Cross River Senatorial Carnival

 

Ikom Local Government Area of Cross River State has, over the years, played host to numerous Dynamic, Cultural, and Historical displays of artifacts of art which, among other attributes, placed the LGA on the global map.

 

Known for its strong and deep charisma for Business, Work, and Pleasure, Ikom can well be described as a Haven for Pure Bliss, Commerce, Pleasure, and Leisure.

 

With the 2024 Cross River State Carnival drawing closer and thanks to the decentralized concept of Senator Prince Bassey Otu’s administration, Ikom Local Government Area is set to host the Central Senatorial District to trills and lush.

 

Hosting members of the team, the Chairman of Ikom Local Government Area, Hon. Pst. [Mrs] Mercy Nsor admonished the team to take advantage of the numerous distinctive qualities in the LGA and Senatorial District and enhance publicity for wider reach and participation.

 

She noted that the idea of decentralizing the Carnival activities, which marks the end of year activities for fun seekers and tourists, will promote Commerce and Tradition and give everyone a total sense of belonging while promoting other Socio-economic activities.

 

“Ikom is the center of Tourism and Business, and as such, there’s a need for our people to enjoy this fun. Our Internally Generated Revenue [IGR] will be increased, amongst other benefits”. Hon. Pst. Nsor stated.

 

She assured the Committee of maximum support, especially in terms of publicity, while looking at the second edition to be the best, as all hands will be on deck to ensure that.

 

In his response, the Chairman of the 2024 Ikom Carnival, Mr. Gomex Bassey, noted that the group is prepared to host and improve this year’s Carnival Activities after the wide acceptability of last year’s event.

 

“We are here to pay the Chairman a courtesy visit and to brief her on the possible preparations of the forthcoming Ikom Carnival with a possible date to be announced very soon. The essence of the Carnival is to bring the fun down to the grassroots amongst others”.

 

The Ikom Carnival is supervised by Effiom Bassey, the CRS Commissioner for Carnival Committee with Mrs. Emily Maduike and Hon. Mrs Ekwele Agube as Members. The Executive Chairman of Ikom LGA and her Cabinet Members have assured the organizers of maximum support.
