Ikom Council Boss Reduces Transport Fare to Calabar, Approves Onitsha South Transport Company
In a move aimed at easing transportation challenges and reducing the financial burden on commuters, the Executive Chairman of Ikom Local Government Area, Hon. Pst. (Mrs.) Mercy Nsor, has approved the operations of Onitsha South Transport Company on key routes connecting Ikom with Obubra, Ugep, Calabar, Obudu, and Ogoja.
As part of the agreement, the transport company will charge ₦8,000 as fare from Ikom to Calabar, a significant reduction from the previously pegged ₦10,000.

This new fare is part of a broader initiative by the Chairman to regulate transportation costs and improve accessibility for the people of Ikom.
Speaking on the development, Hon. Nsor assured residents that her administration remains committed to engaging relevant stakeholders to ensure transportation fares remain affordable and fair to the masses.
In an earlier meeting with local drivers, the Council Chairman had issued a directive halting arbitrary fare hikes that had placed heavy financial pressure on the populace. She also set guidelines stipulating that local “drop” fares by motorcycle operators should not exceed ₦400.
