Majeed Dahiru, a Nigerian journalist, has expressed concern about the fact that some key factors contributing to the Sudan war are also present in Nigeria. The political analyst identified the problems in Nigeria that need to be resolved in his interview in order to prevent things from getting that bad.
Majeed addressed the matter, stating, “The general issue is that the Nigerian government could have done more in regards to intelligence gathering through the NIA. Other nations acted quickly to evacuate their citizens because they knew the crisis could result in a protracted civil war in Sudan.”
He said:
“The war in Sudan has lessons for Nigerians as well, he continued. Any nation with as much tribalism and religious bigotry as Nigeria does will probably end up like Somalia and Sudan. It is important to realise that Nigerian conditions contributed to the conflict in Somalia. In order to prevent something similar from happening in Nigeria, we must learn from Sudan and reconcile our tribal and religious divisions.”
