Portable questioned the officers about his offence and also demanded to see their identification cards. He also rebuffed the officers’ attempts to stop him, telling them that he was a superstar and celebrity.

According to one of the officers, they came to arrest the singer because of a petition against him. The policemen told him that he is not above the law and cannot dictate how they should operate.

In his response, the singer said, “I am a celebrity and I work for APC, you don’t have any right to walk into my office and tell me that I am under arrest.”

“I am a Federal Government liability. I work with the government too. I work with APC. Akoi Tinubu (Okay Tinubu). Nah we get Nigeria now. Nah we dey control Nigeria,” the singer added.

His connection to the ruling All Progressives Congress may be connected to his claim in June 2022 that he was paid to endorse the APC presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu.

In the video posted on social media pages, he was seen asking Nigerians to vote for Tinubu in the 2023 presidential election.

Portable, however, fired back at his critics, saying he was only doing his job, as the ruling party had paid him to support its candidates.

“If they pay you money, you have to work. I was once paid to insult Tinubu during the protests. That was a long time ago. Now, APC has said Akoi Tinubu.

“If they pay you, do your job, no ripping. When I was asked to insult Tinubu, I collected my money and did my job. Now Tinubu is the next. They’re the ones that gave me money, and I must do the work for the money I collected. Akoi APC,” he said.
