Fresh controversy has erupted within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) following a public statement by Hon. Sultan Ahmed Bello, a former National Youth Leader aligned with the Nafi’u Bala faction of the party, in which he apologized to Nigerians and vowed to expose alleged internal dealings within the faction.

In a statement released on Sunday, Bello declared that the lingering crisis between the Nafi’u Bala Gombe-led faction and the faction loyal to former Senate President David Mark would soon come to an end.

According to him, he had reached a personal decision to speak openly about events that transpired during his time in the factional leadership, saying the development became necessary “for the good of the country.”

Bello alleged that there had been an understanding between himself and Nafi’u Bala that once the matter before the Supreme Court was concluded, Bala would either resign or align with the faction led by David Mark.

He claimed both parties were aware that Bala had already stepped down from his position, but the agreement was allegedly not honored.

“Very soon, the crisis between the Nafi’u Bala Gombe faction and the David Mark-led faction will finally come to an end,” Bello stated.

He further alleged that he had been subjected to threats, adding that he could no longer remain silent.

“I can no longer continue living under threats from Nafi’u Bala Gombe. I am tired. Nigeria deserves peace, stability, and honest leadership above personal interests and political games,” he said.

The former youth leader also tendered an apology to Nigerians over his involvement in the crisis rocking the party, admitting that he regretted his actions.

“To my fellow Nigerians, I sincerely apologize for my role in conspiring with Nafi’u Bala. I deeply regret my actions and take full responsibility for them,” Bello stated.

He added that history would ultimately judge all those involved, but maintained that it was never too late to “choose what is right.”

The latest development is expected to deepen tensions within the ADC, which has been battling internal divisions and leadership disputes in recent months. Political observers say Bello’s promise to reveal more details could trigger fresh reactions from both factions in the coming days.
