‘I Was Their First Sponsor When Nobody Believed in Them, But They Abandoned Me’ — P-Square’s Eldest Brother Henry

Henry Okoye, the eldest brother of Nigerian music duo P-Square, has opened up about the longstanding family dispute surrounding Peter and Paul Okoye, accusing their former manager and brother, Jude Okoye, of playing a major role in the family’s division.

Henry made the allegations during an interview with Nollyserve, shared on YouTube on Friday, where he also disputed the widely held narrative that Jude was responsible for building P-Square’s music career.

According to him, he was among the family members who supported Peter and Paul financially and physically when they were still struggling to establish themselves in the Nigerian music industry.

“When they started this music, they were looking for sponsors. They didn’t get a sponsor. When I started sponsoring them, Jude was not there,” Henry said.

He recalled travelling with the twins from one state to another for performances, providing his car for promotional activities and even acting as their bodyguard.

“We would travel from state to state for music. They used my car for flyers. I did bodyguard with them. We were supporting them as a family, but we knew it was Peter and Paul that owned it,” he added.

Henry said Jude only became involved in managing the group after Peter and Paul had already begun making significant progress in their music career.

He further claimed that their late mother had initially opposed the idea of Jude managing the twins because of concerns about his character.

“Before you could know it, Jude came in. We wanted to allow Jude to manage them, but my mum disagreed. She said she knew the kind of character Jude had,” he alleged.

According to Henry, the family gradually became estranged from Peter and Paul after Jude assumed a greater role in the management of the group.

“What happened at last is that they started running away from everybody. We never knew that it was Jude that was causing the problem,” he said.

‘They Promised Me 20% From Each Show’

Henry also claimed that he was promised a 20 per cent share from each of P-Square’s performances in recognition of his early financial contributions to the group.

He alleged, however, that he never received the money and that Jude later questioned the basis of the agreement.

“Before they started all these things going on, they promised me 20% in each show, but nobody has given me,” Henry said.

He further alleged that Jude questioned why he should receive such a percentage, despite not being involved when the twins were starting out.

Henry said Jude also attempted to push other family members away, including Tony Okoye, their immediate elder brother who was involved with P-Square as one of their dancers.

“He said they are flying all around, that what if they have a plane crash, I’ll be enjoying myself. I told him that he wasn’t there when we started, but he came now and is trying to chase everybody away, including Tony,” he said.

‘Jude Never Called Me When I Was in Hospital’

The eldest Okoye brother also spoke about what he described as neglect and the deterioration of his relationship with Jude.

“Almost a year to two years, I’m not talking to Jude. He doesn’t talk to me,” Henry said.

He claimed that he spent two months in hospital but received calls from Peter and Paul while Jude allegedly did not contact him.

“I was admitted into the hospital for two months. Peter used to call me. Paul used to call me. Jude never called me once to know how I’m feeling,” he alleged.

Henry also expressed concern about the welfare of their youngest sister, claiming that she was struggling in Lagos while other members of the family were not doing enough to assist her.

“My sister is suffering in Lagos, our last born, but nobody cares about her. Peter is trying,” he said.

‘I Don’t Know What Happened to Paul’

Henry further expressed surprise at what he described as a change in Paul Okoye’s personality, saying he once considered Paul the kindest member of the family.

“In our family, Paul was the nicest person before, but the way he changed, I’m surprised,” he said.

He suggested that Jude’s influence may have contributed to the change but acknowledged that he could not explain exactly what happened.

“I don’t know if Jude used any… on Paul; I cannot tell,” Henry added.

Henry Doubts P-Square Reconciliation

While expressing his desire to see Peter and Paul reunite as P-Square, Henry said he was not optimistic about a reconciliation because of what he described as Jude’s influence over the brothers.

“I’ll be happy for them to come back together, but the problem I’m having is that I don’t think they’ll come back because Jude has made all of us become enemies,” he said.

According to him, the situation had become so complicated that Peter and Paul allegedly directed family members to Jude whenever they wanted to resolve issues with the twins.

“If you want to talk to Peter and Paul, they’ll tell you to go and meet Jude. If Jude says no, that is it,” Henry lamented.

The latest allegations come amid renewed tensions within the Okoye family and the continuing fallout between Peter and Jude.

Peter had previously released a series of videos in which he accused Jude of financial misappropriation and alleged that he had issued death threats against him.

Peter also rejected claims that Jude was responsible for building P-Square’s career, instead crediting Henry with providing crucial support to the twins during the early stages of their musical journey.

The latest revelations by Henry are likely to further fuel public interest in the long-running P-Square family feud and the events that led to the eventual separation of one of Nigeria’s most successful music duos.
