BREAKING: Governor Fubara Sacks All Commissioners After Supreme Court Judgment

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has sacked all commissioners and public officers affected by the recent Supreme Court judgment on their appointments. The decision takes immediate effect.

 

News Week Nigeria reports that Governor Fubara made the announcement on Wednesday during a valedictory session with his cabinet at the Government House, Port Harcourt. The event was held as part of activities marking Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary.


Cabinet Dissolution Linked to Supreme Court Judgment

According to a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, the governor said the action was in compliance with the apex court’s judgment, which affected the tenure and legitimacy of certain appointees in the state.

Governor Fubara thanked members of his cabinet for their contributions to the growth and development of Rivers State over the past two years. He acknowledged their service and sacrifices, stressing that their efforts had helped sustain governance during a politically turbulent period.

 


Fubara Calls for Unity Under Tinubu

During his address, the governor highlighted the significance of Nigeria’s independence celebration and called on citizens to join hands with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in building a peaceful, secure, and prosperous country.

 

“As we celebrate 65 years of independence, let us embrace unity and renew our commitment to nation-building. We must all work together to ensure peace, security, and prosperity for the future of our children,” Fubara said.

Governor Fubara further reassured the people of Rivers State of his dedication to serve with renewed vigour and determination. He pledged to continue delivering on his promises despite political and legal challenges.

 

He also appreciated the overwhelming support he has enjoyed from residents, urging them to remain steadfast in their trust as his administration enters a new phase.
