Former Sports Minister Bolaji Abdullahi Dumps PDP, Cites Reasons
Former Sports Minister, Bolaji Abdullahi, Resigns from PDP.
Bolaji Abdullahi, a former Minister of Sports and a loyalist of former Senate President Dr. Bukola Saraki, has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Abdullahi, who also served as Commissioner for Education under Saraki’s administration as governor of Kwara State, announced his decision in a resignation letter dated December 16, 2024.
In his letter addressed to the Ubandawaki Ward chairman of the party in Ilorin, Abdullahi expressed his gratitude for the opportunities he had to serve the state and the country on the PDP platform. He stated, “I have had ample time to reflect, and I have come to the difficult conclusion that this is the only tenable option for me at this time.
Abdullahi’s resignation letter was also copied to the state chairman of the party and the chairman of the Ilorin West Local Government Area chapter of the party.
This isn’t the first time Abdullahi has resigned from a significant position. During the national crisis of the PDP under former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, Abdullahi resigned from his role as sports minister. This period saw the creation of the New PDP and the defection of several governors and other prominent party members to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
