As he prepared to be inaugurated as the leader of Nigeria on May 29, Tinubu made this statement on Thursday while accepting an investiture as Grand Commander of the Federal Republic from the outgoing leader.

The Grand Commander of the Order of Niger designation was also given to vice president-elect Kashim Shettima.

During the Tuesday ceremony to inaugurate the Nigeria Customs Service’s new national headquarters, President Buhari stated that he had maintained positive relations with the neighbouring nations since taking office, adding, “If you disturb me after I leave government, I will run to the Niger Republic.”

Even though he had knocks from some regions of the nation, Tinubu noted on Thursday that the president should still anticipate a knock at his door if he were to travel to the French-speaking African nation, as he would be seeking assistance in dealing with the problems there.

The former governor of Lagos State declared, “I understand the magnitude of the national honour bestowed on me today and the task ahead.”

“Wherever you flee to, be prepared for a knock at your door, Tinubu added.

“We are determined to make progress in all areas, including agriculture, the economy, and power. The people demand no less, and I won’t let you down, he added.

According to Buhari, Tinubu needs to muster the political will to combat the corruption that “has eaten deep into the country.”

He said he had faith that Tinubu and his deputy would not let him down, but he also acknowledged that the country was facing enormous challenges and that he needed to gird himself for battle to meet them.
