Drug abuse: UNIOSUN points stern warning to college students
Students of the Osun State University (UNIOSUN) have been warned to desist from drug abuse, sexual harassment, examination malpractice, cultism and vices
The Institution claims it harbours zero tolerance for such vices and can guarantee punishment of anybody caught, together with expulsion.
This is because the college suggested the scholars’ union to proceed to give attention to waging battle towards all acts of drug abuse, cultism and all different social vices.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Labode Popoola gave the warning at a public marketing campaign towards drug abuse, sexual harassment, examination malpractices and cultism, organised by the UNIOSUN college students’ union.
Represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Anthony Kola Olusanya, the Vice-Chancellor acknowledged that the menace of drug abuse, sexual harassment, examination malpractices and cultism have been not new in Nigerian tertiary establishments including that it was, nevertheless, getting uncontrolled.
He mentioned “As you could bear in mind, UNIOSUN has zero-tolerance for all these detrimental vices. If you might be caught, the University won’t hesitate to take acceptable sanctions, which can embody abstract expulsion.
“Hence the explanation why the University Management is glad that the scholars’ union of this nice citadel of studying is taking this big step to tell and enlighten their colleagues to say NO to this harmful act.
“Finally, I implore everyone to be worthy in character with strong integrity as these shameful acts of drug abuse, sexual harassment, examination malpractices and cultism are the worst thing that can ever happen to any student in the institution.”
Meanwhile, the Student Union President, Olaniyi Muideen famous that the marketing campaign was particularly created to orientate college students and inform most people on the hazard of drug abuse, sexual harassment, examination malpractices and cultism.
