“Don’t Use My Name to Campaign for Votes” — Former Buhari’s Minister Warns APC
Former Minister of Labour and Productivity, Senator Chris Ngige, has cautioned the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra State, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, against using his name or image to solicit votes ahead of the November 8, 2025 governorship election.
Ngige expressed displeasure over campaign posters in circulation bearing his photograph alongside Ukachukwu and his running mate, Senator Uche Ekwunife, describing the act as misleading to the public.

In a press statement issued on Tuesday by his Special Assistant on Media Affairs, Hyggy Obialo, the former governor of Anambra State stressed that he is currently on a “sabbatical” from active partisan politics after 25 years of public service and should not be dragged into political campaigns.
“Our attention has been drawn to an online poster featuring the photograph of our principal, His Excellency, Senator Chris Nwabueze Ngige, ‘Onwa-na-etiliora’, alongside the Anambra APC governorship candidate, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, and his deputy, Senator Uche Ekwunife,” the statement read.
“We wish to inform the general public that neither the consent nor approval of our principal was sought or obtained before the said publication was circulated. Senator Ngige, a former Governor of Anambra State, former Senator for Anambra Central, and two-term Minister of Labour and Employment, has stepped away from active partisan politics to take a well-deserved rest.”

The statement further urged those behind the posters to respect Ngige’s decision to remain politically inactive for now, noting that he has repeatedly declared in public forums that he is not participating in partisan politics at the moment.
