Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has disagreed with his uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, over the governor’s decision to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.

Davido criticised the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing the party as “ruthless and disgusting” while alleging that violence during the Osun governorship election led to the deaths of several people.

The singer, who is the governor’s nephew, made his position known on Sunday while responding to a post by an APC supporter who reaffirmed his loyalty to the party’s candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, despite his defeat in the election.

“Y’all kept it bloody n lost! Pple died! F**k yall!!” Davido wrote.

He further stated that he had independently supported his family during the election and insisted that he would never support the APC.

“I brought no one! No one defended me! I backed my family on my own!! You guys r ruthless n disgusting! I have done my job! Nigerian politics is evil and I don’t want to be a part of it till God help us!”

Davido also declared: “I can never support APC in my life!!!”

His comments came shortly after Governor Adeleke secured re-election for another four-year term after defeating APC candidate Oyebamiji in Saturday’s governorship election.

The election was preceded by a fierce campaign, with both political camps trading allegations of violence and other electoral irregularities.

While Davido rejected the APC and appeared to distance himself from further political involvement, Governor Adeleke took a different position by reaffirming his support for President Tinubu’s 2027 presidential ambition.

Speaking after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared him the winner on Sunday morning, Adeleke thanked Tinubu for what he described as the President’s support for a free and credible election.

“At this point, I must deeply appreciate Mr President, His Excellency Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for his strong support for a free and fair election.

“Mr President is a son of Osun State, and I hereby reaffirm my earlier endorsement of him for a second term in the 2027 presidential election,” Adeleke said.

Davido appeared to respond to his uncle’s endorsement in another social media post, saying: “No more supporting any presidential candidate. @AAdeleke_01 Make we dey our dey.”

The statement has further highlighted the political differences between the singer and the Osun governor, despite their close family relationship.
