A total of 285 Nursing students have been admitted into the 2023/24 academic year of the College of Nursing and Midwifery, Itigidi in Abi Local Government of Cross River State to the delight of all and sundry on Thursday September 7, 2023.
Speaking at the event, the Wife of the state Governor, Rev Eyoanwan Otu, who was represented by her Special Adviser, Programs, Projects and Events, Dr. Inyang Asibong, wasted no time in encouraging the new entrants on the importance of the nursing profession in Nation Building and Sustainable Development.

Speaking in turns, the Chairman of the event, Honourable Sylvester Agabi, Deputy Speaker of the 10th Cross River State House of Assembly; and the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Henry Ayuk, asserted that the Cross River State Government is leaving no stone unturned in its quest to strengthen the health systems and promote global best practices in the health sector.
This is evident as the Wife of Governor, who was represented by the Special Adviser, Programs, Projects and Events, Dr. Inyang Asibong, flagged off her Abi LGA medical outreach, a feat which is being replicated simultaneously across the eighteen Local Government Areas of the State.

The new students, who compromised of two hundred and ten (210) for National Diploma (ND1) and seventy-five for Basic Nursing, were selected on merit following their success at the mandatory Progress Test in Science (PTS) examination.
