Cross River Govt Approves Sale of Government Property in Lagos
The Cross River State government has approved the sale of a government-owned property situated at No. 3 Military Street, Onikan, Lagos Island.
The decision to sell the property was reached during a State Executive Council meeting convened on February 7, 2024, News Week Nigeria reports.
Details regarding the transaction, including potential buyers and the terms of the sale, are yet to be disclosed.

The 20th State Executive Council Meeting was presided over by His Excellency, the State Governor and Chairman-in-Session, Senator (Prince) Bassey Edet Otu, with His Excellency, the Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Peter Odey, Commissioners and other members in attendance.

The Meeting,which is the first in 2024,received a special address from the State Governor in which he announced the creation of ten Sectoral Clusters through which all MDAs must collaborate for effective implementation of the People First Administration’s Action Plans.In this regard,Governor Otu intimated Council of the constitution of a central coordinating Action Plan Team to facilitate the development of an efficient,sound and impactful strategy that will guarantee full implementation of Action Plans, close monitoring of performances and evaluation of all Action Plans activities.
The Chairman in session further apprised Council of the States’ superlative exploits at the just concluded World Economic Summit in Davos,Switzerland,where Cross River State’s investment portfolio was elaborately presented at the African Hub Programmes,which has already attracted a number of high level investors to develop an ultra Modern Health Facility in Calabar;a Drone manufacturing Facility and a Modern Technology Precision Farming and Data-driven Crop Management to uplift the State’s food Security capacity.
By leave of the Chairman of Council,Memos were received and considered from Commissioners for Education,Water Resources,Works and Infrastructure, Attorney General & Commissioner for Justice with an Executive Bill,which was approved for forwarding to the Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly for the Establishment of the Cross River State indigenes in Diaspora Commission to serve as an organ to galvanise and facilitate the involvement of indigenes of the State based abroad towards contributing to the socio economic development of the State.
Other Memos approved included
1.the full payment of WAEC Fees for over 16,000 SS3 STUDENTS of Cross River State origin in public Secondary Schools across the State to cushion the huge financial burden on parents.
2.Approval was granted to the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure to immediately intervene in the rehabilitation of the failed Bridge on Yellow Duke Street in Calabar Metropolis through direct labour.
3.Approval was also granted for the renovation of the Cross River House of Assembly Speaker’s and Deputy Speaker’s Lodges
4.Approval was granted for a Law to amend the Cross River State Administration of Criminal Justice Law 2016.
5 Council further approved the direct purchase of 52 Units of GAC Vehicles for allocation to critical sectors in the State.
In the same vein,Council approved the Sales of Cross River State owned property at No. 3 Military Street,Onikan,Lagos Island and upward review of Water rates charged by Cross River State Water Board Limited.
In their separate contributions,Council members lauded Governor Otu for the massive facelifts being witnessed in the State in terms of fast disappearing potholes,the return of street lights, Traffic lights at major Junctions in the State Capital; renovation of Bus Stops;creation of special fruits markets, amongst many emerging innovations of the People First administration that is just seven months old.
