A member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Cross River State, Saveus Okoi Obeten, has officially resigned from the ruling party, citing personal convictions and political aspirations.
In a resignation letter dated May 7, 2026, and addressed to the APC State Chairman through party leaders in Yakurr Local Government Area and Ijom Ward, Obeten announced that his resignation takes immediate effect.
The former APC member explained that the decision followed what he described as “careful consideration,” adding that he intends to pursue his political ambition on another platform.

“I write to formally notify you of my resignation from the All Progressives Congress (APC), with immediate effect,” the letter read. “This decision was reached after careful consideration and in furtherance of my political aspirations and personal convictions, which I intend to pursue on another political platform.”
Obeten further requested that his name be removed from the party’s membership register and all official records, both physical and electronic, in line with his decision to leave the party.
Although he did not disclose the political platform he plans to join, the resignation is expected to stir political conversations within Yakurr politics ahead of future electoral activities in Cross River State.
