Coalition should leave Wike and his dead PDP for me, I will handle him, Amaechi is too big to respond — Adeyanju

The verbal political war between allies-turned-rivals continues to escalate, as activist and political commentator Deji Adeyanju declared that he will personally confront Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, over his recent outbursts, urging opposition figures to ignore Wike and focus on the broader 2027 agenda.

He said:

Coalition people should leave Wike and his dead PDP for me. Amaechi is too big to respond to Wike. Please, leave him for me. They should face other important and relevant issues.

Adeyanju’s comments come amid growing tensions within Nigeria’s political landscape following the official launch of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as the platform for opposition unity ahead of the 2027 general elections. The coalition includes prominent figures like former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, ex-Governor Nasir El-Rufai, and former Transportation Minister Rotimi Amaechi — Wike’s political archrival.

The activist’s statement was in reaction to a fiery interview by Wike aired Friday night, where the FCT Minister took swipes at the newly formed coalition, dismissing it as a “coalition of confusion” filled with men driven by “selfish ambition.”

Responding to Adeyanju’s jab, Lere Olayinka, Wike’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, launched a personal and scathing counterattack. In a strongly worded post, Olayinka accused Adeyanju of previously mismanaging PDP’s social media campaign funds in 2015 and attempting to gain financial leverage from the ADC coalition.

One online baseless lawyer, who impregnated a lady that he met in Keffi, Nasarawa State, who gave birth to a boy and he abandoned both mother and son, will also be talking about Coalition,” Olayinka wrote on X.

The personal nature of the rebuttal has sparked fresh controversy online, with many observers condemning the descent of political discourse into character attacks. While Adeyanju has yet to respond to the allegations, the social media spat highlights the deepening divisions among Nigeria’s political elite.

The feud also revealed the lingering crisis between Wike and Amaechi, both former governors of Rivers State who now find themselves on opposing sides of Nigeria’s shifting political chessboard. While Wike remains aligned with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Amaechi has repositioned himself within the ADC-led opposition front.
